Cheesecake

Thanksgiving has come and gone. I love being able to get together with family and friends and enjoy good food! I do have one little problem with Thanksgiving...I do not like pie! I know it's considered blasphemy to my husband.  I have just never been a fan. So I have to get creative when it come to dessert. I found the BEST alternative!!! Double Oreo pumpkin cheesecake! I know right! Pumpkin, chocolate, and cheesecake. It can't get any better than that!
I mean just look at that. Who could resist? I would even dare say that it beats any pie out there! This will now be a permanent staple at any Thanksgiving I go to. It was also very east to make! I found the recipe on a fellow blog. http://www.carlsbadcravings.com/double-layer-pumpkin-oreo-cheesecake/
Super easy to make! Enjoy and happy holidays!

Detox Drink

Every once in awhile I like to do a detox. I'm not a huge fan of the ones where all you have is a smoothie all day long. I need food EVERYDAY. I found this detox drink from the one and only Jillian Michaels!
It's super easy to make and not that bad to drink!

You will need:
60 oz distilled water
1 TBS 100% natural cranberry juice
2 TBS lemon juice
1 dandelion root tea bag

Make tea according to package directions. Let it cool to room temperature. Pour it into a a water bottle that is at least 64 oz. Fill with your distilled water until you reach 60 oz. Add your cranberry and lemon juice! I would make mine the night before and keep it in the refrigerator. I like it cold! Drink it once a day for 7 days! You will be making a new batch every night. Drink the whole thing everyday! Happy detoxing!

Teacher Gift Idea

I like to do something cute for the kids teachers during the holiday's. My neighbor showed me this cute idea!

Fuzzy sock cupcakes! I think they are darling and they are very cost friendly! I found my socks for 99 cents at Walgreens. I chose to just put actual cupcake lines in mine. If you are ambitious you can use scrapbook paper and cover the whole inside of the plastic cup. It's hard to see but I put a round cinnamon candy on top for the cherry! Throw it all in a gift bag and put a cute tag on it! Easiest and cutest gift ever!

Magic Pill

Tis the season...for getting sick!! I try my hardest not to get what my kids and husband bring home every day. I lost the battle this last week/weekend.

I could feel it coming on last Wednesday while I was working out with my trainer. He informed me that he had been feeling this way lately. He did some research...because he is AMAZING...and found what I like to call the Magic Pill!!

Okay maybe not magic but they are amazing! They're called Oil of Oregano! Yep that's it! Dr. Oz says this about them, "Oil of oregano contains a compound called carvacrol, which has been shown to help break through the outer cell membranes that help protect bacteria from the immune system. Studies have shown that oil of oregano is effective at killing bacteria, and could also help the immune system take action against viruses, fungi and parasites."
I got mine at my local GNC. They can be found at pretty much any health food store or online. They come in gel caps or liquid drops. I have heard the drops are nasty, but to each there own!

I have noticed a huge difference when I take these. My symptoms were less server and I recovered faster. I'm a believer! Like I said...Tis the season! Go get yourself some!

Snow

I think I'm cold blooded. I'm pretty sure that I was meant to live where it stays warm all year long. I woke up this morning to find this...

People think I'm crazy to hate the snow but it's true. I hate it! You would think being raised in Tahoe and now living in Cache Valley I would learn to love it. I have come to accept that it happens every winter and most of spring but I still dislike it. I'm still holding out for a job transfer to somewhere sunny and 75!

Final Few Days

It is Saturday and I have to weigh in on Wednesday for the end of my 12 week challenge. I have had 2 of the most amazing trainers a girl could ask for! They have taught me some life long skills that will be crucial in achieving my goals. It finally occurred to me during these last 12 weeks that this is not something that should only last the allotted time. If I want these changes to stick then I need to continually be using what I have learned. I have done these challenges before and all I was concerned about was what the "final" numbers were. I would never touch dessert and was EXTREMELY cautious of what I ate.  As soon as it was over I would just go back to eating what I wanted. I "earned" all the dessert I wanted. I would soon find myself back at the starting point! This challenge I was very realistic. If I wanted dessert I would have it. If I wanted a bread stick then it was mine! I have been so much more successful this time around. I have also come the the realization that this is not something that can be completed in only 12 weeks! This is a life long journey that I am embarking on! I'm excited to see where I am at come Wednesday! I will, even though I'm not sure everyone wants to see them, post my before and after pictures!
